Meet the Staff - Jennifer M. Trefelner

Jennifer Melville Trefelner, APR, CPRC, has been the Director of Institutional Advancement at John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce, Florida since 2004. She currently manages job duties including the integrated functions of fundraising and friend-raising, public relations and media relations, marketing and advertising, electronic communications and website development, community and parent relations, and alumni cultivation, and institutional planning. Through her work at John Carroll, Jennifer has worked with CSM representatives in the fields of Institutional Advancement, Enrollment Management, and Strategic Planning.
Additionally, Jennifer has served as the St. Lucie County Arts & Entertainment Weekly Columnist, Travel Reporter, and Member of the #TCPalmSocial Social Media Team since 2010. She writes columns or cover pieces which are printed on the cover of the "Today" section every Friday and posted online at www.TCPalm.com. Additionally, she writes freelance stories regarding travel and feature stories are printed and posted online. The #TCPalmSocial social media team helps to promote the online initiatives of SCRIPPS and TCPalm.com through use of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Most recently, Jennifer works on a part-time basis directly for the Diocese of Palm Beach as the Online Communications Consultant for the Office of Catholic Schools. Through this position, she serves as a resource to help assess, develop, and maintain online communication tools designed to support initiatives and activities undertaken by the schools and that of the Diocese of Palm Beach's Office of Catholic Schools.
Jennifer has earned her Accreditation in Public Relations, (APR), and is a Certified Public Relations Counselor (CPRC). An APR is one of the highest marks of distinction that a public relations professional can acquire. It signifies a practitioner's depth of knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the field of public relations and administered through the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB), a consortium of nine professional communication organizations that directs this competency certification program. The credentials of a CPRC is the second tier credential offered by the Florida Public Relations Association. The certification recognizes professional growth and achievement of senior members who have a minimum of 10 years of professional practice in public relations.
Professionally, Jennifer has earned numerous awards and has been recognized on myriad levels for her accomplishments. She has won several Image Awards for the Florida Public Relations Association including: "Judges' Awards," "Awards of Distinction," "Image Awards," and "Grand All Image Awards."
She has also been named "Member of the Year" for the Florida Public Relations Association/Treasure Coast Chapter, was a member of the "Joe Curley Rising Leader Class," earned "Communicator of the Year for a Special Event," was a "Group in Philanthropy Nominee" for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, won "Communicator of the Year for a Non-profit Organization" in FPRA, and was also voted as a "Rising Star" in the FPRA organization.
Jennifer has been happily married to Joey, a fellow JCHS graduate since 2002, and is the mother of Olivia, who attends St. Anastasia Catholic School. Jennifer is very active within the community through numerous volunteer projects, is the Accreditation Chairperson for the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, the Secretary of the John Carroll High School Advisory Council, founding member of The Royal Palms of St. Lucie County, a member of the St. Anastasia PTO, and is the Entertainment Co-Chairman for the Pelican Yacht Club. Jennifer is a graduate of Auburn University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of numerous honor societies and of the esteemed Cater Society.
Jennifer serves Catholic School Management and its' clients on a part-time basis, specializing in comprehensive development programs, marketing programs, student recruitment and retention programs, annual giving programs, and communication and social media programs.
